on repeat
I know I’ve said this before, but Roxy Music’s Avalon is definitely one of my favourite albums of all time. It is just so lush. Some review described it as panoramic, and I wholeheartedly agree. Due to the heavy synthesizers, it is in many ways very 80s, but it’s not dated at all. It’s my perfect summer days and nights album, although it’s still at the top of the pile for all other seasons. My friend and I picked up a second-hand copy of the LP yesterday, and I now own it on LP, CD, and iTunes. I can’t wait for him to get his record player so I can listen to it.
I also need to track down a copy of The Kinks’ To the Bone single for obvious reasons.
Besides that, I’ve also spent all day listening to the Tomb Raider soundtrack - not the best of movies I know, but the soundtrack is great for electronic beats from chill to frantic) in a good way. Between all that, it’s been a whole lot of Moby (especially the Play album) since I’m seeing him tomorrow night (and of course, because he’s good) and a bit of Fleet Foxes and Beta Band to break it up. The brilliant Blade Runner soundtrack looks to enter the lineup too.
Aside from music, my last few days have consisted of lots of meals - from improvised and home-made to Michelin recommended and starred, wandering around, watching 80s movies and South Park and NBA finals, playing with my camera and sorting photos out and pining for a new lens, and acquiring a ton of comics and then some clothes.
Oh, and worrying about, amongst other things: budget, moving, results, career, summer, future :\
